A Low-FODMAP Super Bowl

I really like Super Bowl parties.

There’s a lot of things that I like about them: seeing friends, watching the commercials (especially good because I don’t watch TV very much), watching football (yes, I actually like American football), and of course, the food.

And there are three kinds of food that I especially associate with the Super Bowl:

  • soup (especially chili)
  • appetizers (wings, chips & dip, etc.)
  • and brownies

If you’re hosting a Super Bowl party and are or have a guest on the low-FODMAP diet, it might be nice to have at least a couple FODMAP-friendly items on the menu. And if you’re attending a Super Bowl party as a guest, it might be nice to bring something along that you can enjoy so you don’t have to go hungry while everyone else munches. So here are a few low-FODMAP goodies that would be perfect for your Super Bowl party!

I’ve also indicated which of these recipes are gluten-free (GF), dairy-free (DF), or vegetarian (V) so folks with those dietary needs can find a few recipes to add to their menus as well!

Chilies & Soups

Brownies & Sweets

Okay, so the ginger cookies are random in with all the brownies and blondies. I just think ginger cookies at a Super Bowl party sounds amazing.

What are you doing for the Super Bowl?

Are there any specific foods you associate with the Super Bowl?

Thank you for including my recipe! We don’t have superbowl here, but this collection of recipes looks wonderful. And a great collection of low FODMAP blogs, I didn’t know all of them yet so I am definitely going to check them out 🙂

For sure, Karlijn! The Super Bowl’s definitely a very American thing. Do you have any big sporting events where people tend to have a party in the Netherlands? I’m glad you’ve found some good recipes and blogs to check out. Meanwhile, I really want to try those peanut butter bars soon!

      1. Karlijn says:

Only when the Dutch soccer team plays in the European or World championships, then it is one big orange craze out here. It is quite nice too, but i would love to join a real superbowl party once.

And oh those peanut butter bars, it is so hard to only have one 😉

Super bowl parties are not a real thing around here – or at least with my network of people. However give me a list of brownies and you have my attention. A great roundup for those needing these restrictions – as always!

    1. Joyce says:

Yeah–Super Bowl parties are very much a U.S. thing. Good thing brownies are yummy any ole time!
