Currently: June 2017

This is gonna sound cliche, but I can’t believe how fast June has been going by. It’s already halfway through my summer break!

I thought I’d give y’all a little life update with another Currently post.

Currently listening to: National Public Radio. I’ve had it on a lot lately–I like keeping up with the news, and it’s good reporting, but I also really like the feature stories, which are really well done.

Current food: I seem to be unintentionally eating a lot of things in boxes. A combination of not feeling like cooking and not wanting to spend money to go out to eat. Also, the Fuzzy Face has been super-sweet lately, keeping a few gluten-free pizzas and gluten-free pretzels at his apartment for whenever I come visit. I’ve concluded that Udi’s is the best gluten-free frozen pizza I’ve tried so far! What I’ve really been craving, though, is ice cream with peanut butter. Anyone else a moose tracks fan? Also, anyone know where in Colorado I can get tin roof sundae?Current accomplishment: Does this Chaco tan count as an accomplishment?…which leads me to my…

Current non-guilty pleasure: Outdoor time. All I’ve wanted is to be out in the sun. And if I have to be indoors, to have the windows open.

The Fuzzy Face and I had a picnic in the park this weekend, followed by some frisbee tossing. It was just what my soul needed!

Picnic in the park: sesame noodle salad, hoisin tofu and sauteed greens

I’ve also just been going to the park to stretch out and read later in the afternoons, loving the long summer days. And I’m still…

Currently reading: Swing Time by Zadie Smith. Love it! So well written and thought-provoking.

Current procrastination: Deep cleaning the fridge and freezer. It needs it. Seriously.

Current excitement: I joined the Fort Collins Cycling club! I’ve gone on a few of their rides, and I’m still trying to find someone who goes my pace–not too slow, not too fast. Loving being out on the road again, though.

My Giant bicycle–size extra-small 😛

How ’bout you? Current excitement? Currently listening to?

This has been a fun weekend for Pat, Annie, and me. Chris, Claire, and Melanie have been here. Chris went home yesterday and Claire and Melanie are leaving today. We went to Botanica Saturday then to the Lotus Leaf for lunch. Such a wonderful place. Claire, Melanie, and I went to Bela Vita for dinner. It’s a beautiful little Italian bistro in a strip mall. The waiter knows us and treats us well. Yesterday, we went to folk/bluegrass concert at the UU Church. It was so much fun. Richard Crowson, the Eagle political cartoonist, sang some of the political song parodies he does for our local NPR affiliate. He plays the banjo, so of course he told some banjo jokes. His wife and a guitar player joined him. We really enjoyed it.

It seems we’ve both been having a good time, which is a good thing.

Really glad you’ve got to spend some time with Chris, Claire & Mel! Also, the bluegrass concert sounds awesome. Glad you’ve been having a good time. 🙂

  2. Yay for outdoor time and cycling! It’s really the best time of the year for those things and getting in our dose of Vitamin D while at it.
While I’m not 100 % sure – the German title might be different – I think my mum is currently reading that same book. She’s a fan of Zadie Smith’s writing.
Your tan looks fancy – maybe setting a new trend ;)?
I’m currently listening to various podcasts, trying to find new ones to switch things up a bit.

    1. Joyce says:

Cool! I’m excited to hear your mom is also a Zadie Smith fan. I know she’s published a number of really wonderful novels; I’d like to keep reading her stuff.

  3. Cora says:

    Bahahaha. That tan. Is. Amazing.

    Definitely an achievement.

Saving time by not cooking so you can spend more time outdoors gets all my approval. And then some.

  4. Kat says:

Congrats on joining the cycling club! What a fun thing to be a part of. I’m in desperate need of finding a soccer club to play with. I need to be on the field again!

    1. Joyce says:

I didn’t know you were into soccer. I hope you find one! That sounds like a ton of fun.

  5. Alyssa says:

I love cycling! I have been craving a big ice cream cone… perfect treat. Another craving- a nap in a hammock!! lol.
