Currently: December 2017

Hi, all. It’s me. And it’s Christmastime! 🎄

I’m done. The final grades are in. And I get a four-week sabbatical before I get to turn around and do it all again.

So for my first currently, I’m going to start with currently procrastinating.

And I’m going to say that I’m currently procrastinating nothing! I haven’t had time to procrastinate. There’s plenty of things I haven’t been doing–blogging, reading blogs, the annual self-evaluation that’s due to my boss after the new year–but not because of procrastination.

I was so busy the last couple of the weeks of the semester, some days I had to plan ahead just to make sure I’d have time to shower!

Current accomplishment: I survived my first semester of four sections. 92 students times five major course projects times all the worrying about students and writing reports about students and answering questions from students and responding to complaints from students and emotionally supporting students…

Complain, complain. I’m fine, actually.

Also, go hug a teacher.

Current bane of existence: After only one year with my current laptop, the time has come to replace it. This time, I’m buying the warranty. Or maybe I’ll see if Santa wants to buy me the warranty.

Anyway, that’s why there are no new photos. No way to load them.

Current joy: I’m home again! I’ll be here until December 31. Maggie continues to get bonier and bonier. Her kidneys are failing. 😢 But at least I’m getting to spend some time with her.

That was a downer of a joy. Here’s another joy: Fuzzers got me exactly what I asked for for Christmas. And I’m way more excited than anyone should be about a teapot.

Currently watching: Speaking of Fuzzers, he and I went to see The Last Jedi last weekend. We really liked it!

Currently reading: I just started White Teeth by Zadie Smith and read a couple chapters on the trip home. I read Swing Time over the summer, which was dark and very smart. White Teeth is also dark and very smart, but it’s also very witty.

Current food: I’m quite hungry as I type this, so actually anything sounds good. Mom’s making goulash and it smells so good right now. American goulash, not Hungarian goulash. Nom nom nom nom nom nom nom nom nom nom nom.

Current drink: Hot chocolate. Duh.

BTW, if you’re interested in some holiday-themed posts: here are a few from last year:

  1. Yay for being done with everything for now and getting to soak up the holiday cheer before this most wonderful time of the year is over again. Also, you’d have all the reasons to complain/sigh in relief because you teachers don’t have an easy but an incredibly important job. My aunt’s a teacher, too, and I’m amazed at how she does it all. As a student, you never think about all the work that’s happening ‘behind the scenes’. Especially since this was your first time doing it all.
You’re understandably excited about the teapot – it really is a pretty one.
Hoping that Maggie and you will get to enjoy lots of snuggles while you’re home. It’s hard to see loved ones – be they humans or felines – get weaker and weaker.
    Merry Christmas already, Joyce!

    1. Joyce says:

Merry Christmas to you too, Miss Polkadot!

  2. Cora says:

That is an accomplishment and a half. Holy smokes. CONGRATULATIONS on being done, and getting through, the semester, Joyce!!! Now you more than deserve ALL the rest, ALL mama’s cooking, and all the doing whatever your heart desires. Merry Christmas my dear friend!

    1. Joyce says:

Merry Christmas, Cora, and many thanks!

  3. Kaylee says:

You go at conquering those 4 sections!! As a college student now, I know we can be a handful.
Happy Christmas, Joyce! Enjoy your down time being home.
current joy: Having the whole family together and prepping for our holiday traditions 🙂

    1. Joyce says:

I’m sure you’d be one of those students who makes teaching a joy, Kaylee. 🙂

  4. Alyssa says:
